PCZ1000A

AC Electronic Load (CC/CR/CP)

Outline

PCZ1000A is an AC electronic load that enables you to perform load simulation for various inverters and transformers. In addition to the resistive loads generally used in tests, it is capable of simulating capacitor-input rectifier loads.
The instrument supports input up to 1000W and is equipped with 3 operation modes – Constant Current, Constant Resistance, and Constant Power.Current waveform resemble to sine wave can be output constantly without effect by voltage waveform at each mode. Moreover, the instrument is equipped with Crest Factor function that is suitable for simulating current load test for switching power supply.
This instrument provides improved operation through CPU control and enables external control and read-back via RS-232C.

PLZ-U Series

Modular Multifunction DC Electronic Load (CC/CV/CR/Zero volt input) : 4 Models

Outline

The current trend in semiconductors is towards lower voltages and higher speeds. This trend places similar demands on both the components of semiconductor power units, such as switching power supplies, batteries and DC/DC converters, and also on the electronic loads used for testing. Also, a growing number of users with a need for multiple-output power units and easy channel reconfiguration are calling for plug-in type electronic loads that can be easily configured to support multiple channels. The advent of an electronic load system that satisfies all these needs has been long awaited. It was against this background that we developed the PLZ-U Series of electronic loads.
The PLZ-U Series of compact and high-performance modular electronic loads is capable of operating in five modes: constant current, constant resistance, constant voltage, constant current + constant voltage, and constant resistance + constant voltage. The load system consists of load modules and a frame. The load modules are inserted into the frame that also serves as a control unit. The PLZ-30F frame can accommodate up to three load modules, while the PLZ-50F frame can accommodate up to five. The load modules can be operated in parallel, so that the current capacity or power capacity can be changed easily, from 75 to 750 watts*1, as needed for the device under test. In addition to offering high-speed response at a maximum slew rate of 2.4 A/ µs*2 and a minimum setting resolution of 10 µ A*3, the system features a variety of functions including soft start, variable slew rate, a switching function, ABC preset memory function, four setup memories, and a sequence function. What’s more, timer functions combined with time/voltage measurement functions allow you to measure battery discharge characteristics.
For communication, the system is provided with GPIB and RS-232C interfaces as standard. Both interfaces support IEEE 488.2 as well as the Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI) commands, developed for testing and measuring instruments.

Features

  • Compact, lightweight body
    The electronic load system is as wide as a 19-inch rack with a height of 3U. Weighing about 11 kg when configured for three channels or about 17 kg when configured for five channels, the system is compact, lightweight and space-saving.
  • High-speed response
    In constant current mode, the electronic load is capable of offering high-speed response at a slew rate of 2.4 A/µ s at the rising and falling edges of the current (equivalent to about 10 µ s when converted to the rise and fall times; in the case of PLZ150U).
  • High precision and high resolution
    The built-in three-range configuration provides both wide dynamic range and high precision. The voltmeter, ammeter and wattmeter functions that display values using up to five digits each and a minimum setting resolution of either 10 µA (PLZ70UA) or 20 µA (PLZ150U) are implemented.
  • Variable slew rate
    In constant current or constant resistance mode, the slew rate can be changed continuously.
  • 0(Zero)V input
    The PLZ70UA model operates even when the input operating voltage is 0(Zero)V.
  • Multi-channel system
    PLZ-50F may be configured with up to five channels, and PLZ-30F may be configured with up to three channels. Isolated from each other, the channels can operate both independently and in synchronization. Different models of load units (PLZ150U and PLZ70UA) can be housed in a single frame.
  • Frame control
    You can connect two or more frames and use one of them to control the others (up to five frames can be connected at a time). This enables you to turn on or off the load and call preset values.
  • Parallel operation for increased capacity
    Up to five load modules may be operated in parallel, provided that adjacent load modules are of the same model.

PLZ6000R

6kW Regenerative DC Electronic Load (CC/CR/CV/CP/CC+CV/CR+CV)

Outline

PLZ6000R is a DC electronic load that regenerates load power to the AC line. Regular electronic loads consume load power by having semiconductor devices convert it into heat. By contrast, PLZ6000R converts load power into reusable electric power, rather than converting it into heat as is typically done, and feeds this power to the AC line, thereby substantially reducing the amount of waste energy. PLZ6000R is an environment-friendly electronic load that can contribute significantly to your energy saving efforts.

    The use of a proprietary switching technology (patent pending) provides high power regeneration efficiency – from 85% or more at one-third of rated power (2000 W) to a maximum of 90% or more. PLZ-4WL Series

High Speed-Large Current DC Electronic Load (CC/CV/CR/CP) : 2 Models

While the PLZ-4WL series succeeds to the superior operability of our conventional model of the PLZ-4W series, the PLZ-4WL series realizes the high speed rise and fall time (slew rate of 50A/µs.) in the range of low voltage with large current.
The PLZ-4WL offers six operation modes, and equips with various features such as sequence operation, switching operation, soft-start function, and time and voltage measurement.
The PLZ-4WL applies not only for the conventional load test of the CPU power supply, but also it can be applied to even faster current response test. In addition, the PLZ-4WL is a space-saving design (about 50% less volume of the conventional model) that can save the facility space of the testing site, and it can be applied for the single cell testing of the large scale rechargeable battery.

The PLZ-4W Series Electronic Load unit is a multifunctional system designed to offer the highest levels of reliability and safety with operation function of constant voltage, constant current, constant power and constant resistance mode. And its control unit comes with GPIB, RS232C and USB as standard equipment, available in 5 models.
A 0(Zero)V input operating voltage is available in 2 models (PLZ164WA, PLZ664WA) which are suitable to meet the testing demands for the Fuel Cell, DC/DC converter, SW Power Supply, and any other devices required for the lower operating voltage application. Model PLZ664WA offers the 132A at 0V input as a largest current rating in its class. ( 33A for model PLZ164WA)
Furthermore, the PLZ-4W features high speed slew rate when switching, it can be used as simulating load for the characteristic, performance, life cycle, aging test in the field of application in Automobile electronics, SW Power Supply manufacturer, Secondary Battery.
To achieve large capacity for testing application at low cost, PLZ1004W can be expanded up to 9kW by using its 2kW booster unit (PLZ2004WB).

Features

  • High-speed response and variable slew-rate
    With PLZ-4W series, a faster response of rise/fall time as calculated conversion value with 10 µs is made possible, enabling a transient response test for the direct current and accurate reproduction of a simulation waveform as a dummy load. In addition, it also can be set with a slew rate (A/µs ). As for the setting value, it can be varied continuously, and be possible to optimize transient control for voltage drops due to wiring inductance, constant-voltage power supply, etc., when the load current is switched on.
  • 0(Zero)V input
    The 164WA and 664WA of PLZ-4W series permit a load input up to the rated current even when the Input Voltage is set for 0(Zero)V.
  • Sequence function
    Sequence patterns set as you requested can be saved in the built-in memory. In the sequence program, 10 normal sequences and 1 first sequence can be saved. 256 steps of normal sequences, and 1024 steps of the first sequence can be saved in each program.
  • Convenient function for discharging test of cells
    The PLZ4W can measure the time from load-on to load-off. When combined with under voltage protection (UVP) function, the time from when the battery discharge is started until the battery voltage falls to the cutoff voltage can be measured. Also, you can set the timer so it will load-off automatically after a specified time elapses from load-on mode. Once this timer is set, the input voltage value immediately before load-off is displayed, so it is possible to measure the closed circuit voltage after a specified time elapses from the start of discharging battery.
  • Booster unit PLZ2004WB
    To achieve a large capacity system at low cost, the PLZ1004W has an expandable option PLZ2004WB as a booster unit. Using 1 PLZ1004W as a master unit, a maximum of 4 booster units can be parallel connected. (Max. 9kW, 1800A) Note: PLZ2004WB(Booster unit) can be used for the PLZ1004W only. It cannot be connected and used with any other model.

    Under parallel operation, the same model can be parallel connected to a maximum of 5 units when booster unit is not used. (Max. 5kW, 1000A)

PLZ-5W Series

Multifunctional DC Electronic Load (CC/CV/CR/CP) : 8 Models

Outline

The PLZ-5W Series high performance electronic load is the successor to the highly respected PLZ-4W series, whilst still retaining the same high specification and build quality. Advances include a high visibility color display, low voltage operation from a minimum of 1 V to a maximum of 150 V. Programmable profiles of voltage/current can be applied (using the new ARB function, as used in LED/solar testing) in addition to the inherited 6 modes of operation: Constant Current, Constant Resistance, Constant Voltage, Constant Power, Constant Current + Constant Voltage, Constant Resistance + Constant Voltage.
Equipped with a high-speed response feature boasting a maximum slew rate of 60 A/μs (PLZ1205W) and a minimum setting resolution of 10 μA (PLZ205W). Additional features of the PLZ-5W series include: Soft-start function, variable slew rate, selectable response (CV/CR mode), switching function, ABC preset memory, 20 user-defined set-up configurations, and a sequence operation function. The advanced high-speed response makes the PLZ-5W ideal for the development and testing of today’s modern power supplies that require variable high-speed current changes. This advantage extends to the testing of current clamps/transducers.
The PLZ-5W Series is available in 4 standard models which can be incrementally extended by adding additional booster units (PLZ2405W) to achieve a maximum of 10.8 kW / 2160 A DC electronic load.
The following communication interfaces are installed as standard: LAN (LXI compliant), USB, RS232C and analog control. An optional GPIB interface is available.

  • Sequence Creation Software Wavy for PLZ-5W (SD023-PLZ-5W)
    The Wavy for PLZ-5W (SD023-PLZ-5W) is an application software that supports sequence creation and the operation of the Kikusui power supplies and the electronic load. The “Wavy” software allows you to create and edit sequences visually using a mouse without programming knowledge. It enables you to control the electronic load for such monitoring the voltage and current, logging and so on.
  • Arbitrary I-V characteristics (ARB) mode
    In ARB mode arbitrary I-V characteristics can be set by entering multiple I-V points (voltage and current value set points). From 3 to 100 points can be registered and the space between two points is automatically linearly interpolated. This mode can be used for simulation of LED loads and other DUT’s with non-linear characteristics.
  • Booster (PLZ2405WB)
    Achieving 2400 W in “2U” size. Connecting up to 4 booster (PLZ2405WB) units with the master (PLZ1205W) increases the maximum system capability to 10.8 kW 2160 A. The optional parallel cable (PC01-PLZ-5W) is reguired to connect between the master and slave/booster units.
    *PLZ2405WB is a dedicated booster for PLZ1205W. It cannot be used with any other model.
  • Parallel operation
    Multiple units of the same type can be connected in parallel. Without using boosters, you can connect up to five units of the same model in parallel, including the master unit (max. 6 kW, 1200 A). In the parallel connection configuration, one control master operates with one or more slave units, enabling you to control the entire system and view the sum of the combines data on the master unit’s panel. To connect the units requires the use of as many optional parallel cables (PC01-PLZ-5W) as the number of units to be connected.
    *The PLZ2405WB (Booster) comes with 1 pc. of parallel operation cable (PC01-PLZ-5W).
  • PLZ-5W SR Large scale system SR Series (Smart Rack)
    The compact, large scale system, SR (Smart Rack) Series is available. The input power is available in 6 kW, 10.8 kW, 15.6 kW, and 20.4 kW. The maximum input current is 2160 A. (*1200 A for PLZ6005W)
